Siemens Mobility expands US manufacturing facility

Siemens Mobility will invest 220 million dollar (207 million euro) in the expansion of its North Carolina-based manufacturing facility. The company expects that some 500 jobs will be created in the process. The expanded facility will start operations in 2024. Siemens will not only be manufacturing train carriages on site, but also use the facility for the overhaul of locomotives and passenger rolling stock. The factory will be fitted with technologies already in use at sites in different parts of the country, such as robotic welding and 3D printing. Operations will be carbon-neutral, Siemens writes. The North Carolina site has room for future expansion too, it also said this week.
