In a new and transformative devolution deal with the UK government, Transport for Greater Manchester will gain newfound authority over regional rail services within the Bee Network. This Bee Network will now be an integrated transport system that will be modeled similar to London with the integration of bus, Metrolink, rail and cycle services under the guidance of one body. The result of this deal will be improved services, simpler fares and more integrated ticketing that works to improve the user experience. The transport comissioner Vernon Eritt commented on the deal saying ‘The integrated Bee Network will transform how people move around our growing city region and radically improve what it is like to do business here for generations to come. Better rail services are critical elements in delivering this’.
