Despite tourism growth Germany have been able to reduce their carbon emissions

According to the latest report by the World Travel and Tourism Council, Germany has been able to demonstrate sustainable growth in the travel and tourism industry while reducing its absolute emissions. This makes Germany one of the leading countries in the sector to achieve this feat. The report also highlights that between 2010 and 2019, the travel and tourism sector’s total energy usage only increased by 0.2% per year. At the same time, the industry was also successful in decreasing its energy intensity by 18.3%. This means that the travel and tourism industry in Germany has been able to achieve a balance between growth and sustainability.
